It was through my parents that I learned to give of
yourself to others, whether through a kind word, a helping hand or
simply a smile because, "there is always someone less fortunate then
you"", I would hear them say. I believe it is through these values
which were instilled in me as a child that has lead me to this place
in which I feel compelled to making helping others my life ambition.
Growing up I witnessed my parents helping those who
were less fortunate through simple acts of kindness. My Dad, a
grocery story owner, loaded groceries in a bag for the man who tried
to steal from him rather than call the police. My Mom took my
sisters and me to shelters and orphanages to donate time and gifts,
allowing me to play Santa Claus at Christmas time. Even at the young
age of 10 or 11 years old and witnessing the smiles and gratitude on
those children's face as I would hand out the gifts left a lasting
impression and feeling that is beyond words. It is this same feeling
that leads me in search of an opportunity to help others who are
less fortunate then I. So being part of Isabelle's House is familiar
territory.
The projects that I have been able to be a part of
through Isabelle's House has given me the opportunity to be a part
of something wonderful.
